Showcase: Wolves of Orboros

Over the summer I started playing Hordes. I began forging an army with a friend and picked Orboros because of their wilder aesthetics. The first unit I painted was the Wolves of Orboros.

The Method

First I glued all the bits together, which might have been better to do after I had painted. Then I laid out all the pieces on a sheet of paper and primed them in white. I did 2 light coatings over 1 hour. Next, I mixed together some browns and white to get an array of browns for the leather and clothing. I painted all of the underclothes and made sure to remember and interesting spots. Next, I painted the armor plates. I used a watered-down green which built up in the deeper pockets of the armor giving the ridged a yellow-like shine. Continuing with the body I painted the cloaks of the units making sure to paint the furry parts a lighter gray. After the body was done I painted the wood on their signature spears. Lastly, I painted the steel a lighter gray and dry-brushed it with flecks of silver for a worn-down look. As an extra bit of flair, I painted the bit of fur on the commander’s spear red in contrast with the greens and grays. Overall I am very happy with how they turned out. They aren’t perfect but they are mine.
